Ascent to the tower of Nové Hrady castle, which is the second highest tower in Nové Hrady, after the tower of the Church of St. Peter and Paul (not open to the public). The tower was built to its current height in the second half of the 18th century. Although we have reports on construction activity in the castle at this time from the years 1792-1798, the wood on the oldest part of the roof was felled, according to a dendrochronological survey, during the winter of 1749-1750 and 1752-1753. 82 steps lead to the tower from the courtyard, the highest point of the roof is 20 m above the courtyard, the bottom of the moat is below, under the front bridge circa 14.5 m below the level of the courtyard. A tour of the tower is possible only for physically fit visitors over four years old. Children under four cannot visit the tower for safety reasons.
